The Gleaners is a delicate rendering of the cultivation and harvesting of Cannabis in Northern California. The portraits offer a glimpse into the process through which this historic plant is processed and captures the intimate subtleties of the labor involved. Work from The Gleaners began during the artist’s time living on a Cannabis farm in 2016 where he thoughtfully documented and has here transposed a composition of this process, radically recontextualizing Marijuana and reestablishing the worker as an elegant subject of portraiture.
